Anodic Aluminum Oxide (AAO) films on Al are a convenient low-cost alternative to free-standing AAO wafers or membranes for many applications, such as templated growth of uniform arrays of nanowires, nanotubes and nanodots. Other uses of AAO films on Al include chemical and biological sensing, energy conversion, SERS substrates, photonic and metamaterials, reference substrates for Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and many more.

Product features:

• Broad range of pore diameters from 2.5 nm to 300 nm.

• Thicknesses from 0.05 to 50 micrometers (minimal thickness is 3x pore diameter)

• AAO is grown on 0.1 mm thick Al foil; thicker substrates are available as custom product

• Inherently strong adhesion of AAO to Al substrate

• Pores are separated from Al by a thin (10’s to 100’s nm) layer of dense alumina

• AAO grown on one or both sides of Al foil

• Barrier layer could be tailored to facilitate electrodeposition (custom option, please inquire)
